Bus Stop Flags sold on ebay

Last updated

I have been tracking the sale of London Transport bus stop flags on ebay since mid-2006. I have (loosely) grouped them into four categories:

Pre-War
Flat signs with a bronze frame.
Bus Compulsory Bus Request
LPTB (London Passenger Transport Board)
The traditional “boat” sign. Compulsory stops have a black bar on the bulls-eye. Request stops have black text on earlier examples, and coloured text on later ones.
Bus Compulsory Bus Request
LTE (London Transport Executive)
Boat-shaped signs. Compulsory stops have a solid-colour roundel. Request stops have coloured text.
Bus Compulsory Bus Request
TfL (TransportforLondon)
The current style with the stop type listed on a band at the bottom.

Listed below are some particularly highly-priced signs:
TypePrice & Date
LPTB/Coach Request + 1£205.00
September 2007
LPTB Bus Request/Red Arrow Request + 1£211.61
May 2007
LPTB Bus Compulsory/Coach Request + 1£320.00
September 2007
LPTB Red Arrow Compulsory£347.99
September 2007
LPTB Bus Compulsory/Coach Compulsory + 3£361.00
November 2006
Of course, price is always dependent upon condition, demand and rarity.
It is believed that a B(R)C(C) (Bus Request Coach Compulsory) sign would command a price in excess of £350, as there were only a handful known to have been erected. Bus Request Coach Compulsory
