Most of these signs were originally available from the London Transport Musuem. The text accompanying each sign is the seller’s description (complete with spelling errors and unorthodox punctuation). Details of shipping, pick-up or delivery have been omitted. Any added notes are in italics. If a sign is marked as unsold (with a strike through the price), it is generally because the condition did not warrant the sellers starting bid, or the seller had it listed as for “Local pick-up only”.

October 2008		 CLASSIC 4 x 4 1/2 INCH ENAMELLED METAL 'BUS STOP' SIGN. AT LEAST 30 YEARS OLD, AS I'VE HAD IT SINCE I WAS LITTLE. SOME RUST STAINING AROUND EDGES AND SCREW HOLES, BUT IS FAR BETTER QUALITY THAN THE MODERN SOUVENIR REPLICAS, SO COULD WELL BE THE REAL DEAL. HAS BEEN USED OUTSIDE AT SOME POINT IN ITS LIFE ANYWAY. THERE ARE TRACES OF WHITE PRINTED LETTERS AND NUMBERS, AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE A GALLOPING HORSE ON THE REVERSE.

WOULD MAKE A NICE DISPLAY PIECE OR MILDLY AMUSING ADDITION TO THE GARDEN SHED OR WORKPLACE 'SMOKE-HUT'

February 2009		 Collectible Vintage Metal BUS STOP Sign

I don't know how this wound up here but here it is. It is one of four I bought from a local consignment store that are now on auction.

It is a 4 3/8 inches by 4 inches and heavy metal. It is clearly old and used but in remakably good condition save the rust - beautiful! There was something written on the back when originally hung and I would love to know what it said - probably "This is city property and the bearer will be drawn and quartered." - heh!

January 2009		 London Underground "Mind the Gap" enamel plate. Slightly chipped in plates but umproves appearence. Unsure of age. But it looks quite old, I'd guess its not a modern reproduction.

May 2009		 I’m not sure this one properly belongs here. It's not in the proper Jonston Underground lettering, but does appear to be the correct colors, is too small to have been legible at any distance, but looks like it was done by a professional sign-painter. In Good condition, slight chips on two of the plates, can be touched up using the correct paint, originally acquired from the London Transport Museum many years ago.
