An original London Transport bus stop which was produced from 1951 to 1973. There is a reference number on a plate on the base – 12364 – which should give some clue to where it was erected. The brackets for fixing to the post are still attached.
There is a manufacturers reference on the side Burnham-London O/X 58059 (see photo)
The enamel and colours overall have kept very well, although there is some discolouration and rusting around the edges and in the middle on one side (see photo). There are also two holes in the base plus two small holes that were used to add number plates. |

Original London Transport Bus Stop Flag, pre-1980 and probably much earlier. Its former location is not known. Some rusting has occurred and some chips to the enamel, as can be seen in photos. There is some rusting also to the underside, although the metalwork is still sound. Bolts still attached at side, although a little rusty and shorter than their original length. Looks quite nice from a few feet away and very effective at a distance. Imagine how many people this flag has looked down upon over the years! |

At some 50+ miles beyond Gravesend, this sign was probably erected as someone’s idea of a joke. |
I AM RELISTING THIS ITEM AS PEOPLE KEPT EMAILING ME SAYING THIS WAS A LONDON BUS STOP SIGN, SO I DONE SOME RESEARCH ON IT AND IT HAS BEEN IN BROADSTAIRS,KENT AT LEAST 40 YEARS, THIS SIGN WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE OLD GATE HOUSE IN YORK STREET WHICH WAS TURNED INTO A CAFE, WHICH MY DAD OWNED FOR MANY YEARS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS WAS THE MAIN ROUTE TO LONDON? WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY IT IS A LONDON STYLE! THIS IS THE NUMBER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BUS STOP 14373, THIS MAY HELP.
THE SIGN IS IN REALLY GOOD CONDITION, BUT HAS A FEW SMALL PAINT SPOTS WHICH CAN BE REMOVED |

LONDON TRANSPORT, CHINGFORD BUS STOP SHELTER SIGN
This very rare bus stop shelter sign was bought a few years back. It measures roughly 45cm by 45cm square. These signs were common sight years ago when built into the proper wooden shelters we once had.
I have put a sensible reserve on this item so if it does not sell i will place it back on display. Please note their is NOT a 'Buy It Now price', nor will i say what i have set the reserve at. So please kindly do not ask, thank you.
There are some chips on the corners and between the N S which have all been touched up prior to me buying. Overall in excellant condition for its age and must have been facing North as there is no fading at all. Please check the photos before bidding.. |

OWN A PIECE OF LONDON TRANSPORT HISTORY!! Take a Look at this!! A genuine LT enamel bus stop "compulsory"... Including a double depth "boat" attached to bottom, enabling six e-plates to be displayed!!.. Here is a lovely example of a historic and iconic piece from the the streets of London.. Ideal for enthusiasts who are looking for the perfect place to display e-plates as well, which you can see demonstrated to good effect in photograph two.. A beautiful sign in the classic LT Johnstone typeface, with the world famous roundel or "bullseye" on the white background indicating that this is a compulsory bus stop.. An ageless piece in its own right, but is probably at least 30-40 years old now.. A great item for LT collectors, enamel/sign collectors or even if you live in the London area and want to hang it in your trendy bar or late lounge!! IN MY OPINION... It really is in very good condition!! The usual marks in places and some chips so check the photos of both sides carefully.. **NOTE E-PLATES IN PHOTOGRAPH TWO ARE NOT INCLUDED ! ! !** |

LONDON TRANSPORT COMPULSORY BUS STOP WITH HOLDER FOR SIX "E" PLATES. This is a typical London Transport compulsory bus stop seen all over London until a few years ago. It is what would be know as C(B)E6 type stop as it has holders for 6 "E" plates ( the small metal plates that have the bus route numbers on them). It is in good condition with no major chips or rust on either face although there is some rust on the edges. The clips on the plate holders are there. These type of stops are becoming rarer to find so don't miss this one, there may not be another one behind! I have already had interest in it even before I have listed it so don't wait until the last 5 seconds to bid and hope to pick it up cheap, you will be disappointed! When bidding please remember it is big, heavy, and expensive to post. I will sell overseas but please rember the above applies even more so. Collection is possible ( I live near Morden the southern end of the Northern Line, London). So why not buy it for your wife for Christmas, you know she's always wanted one but didn't want to ask. Hours of fun for the kids as well, they can play "waiting for the bus" out in the garden while you have a sleep after Christmas lunch! Happy Biding |

Selling this large bus stop that can take up to nine number, sold as shown.
It needs a good clean from being stored in the garage.
Size in inches 31 x 19 x 3 weight 10kg It has the inner nut plates but I do not have the bolts.
My mother bought this some twenty years ago (in a moment of madness) as she onced lived in London.
In retirement she has no need for it and gave it to me. Unfortunately I don't really have a home for it, so please buy it.
I have quoted UK postage but if you live elsewhere I am happy to post it for whatever the extra over is.
Hopefully this is a nice appreciating item.
Thanks for looking |

This is a vintage double sided genuine London Transport enamel bus sign ~ the picture shows both sides of it, together with its 11cm bolts.
As you look at the left hand picture, the side with the bolts is 9 cm deep which tapers as it gets to the right hand side, and the sign itself is 76 cm x 46 cm. It has spaces on both sides for 6 bus numbers, although the only one remaining in it is: "71 Mon-Sat Fare Stage" It is incredibly heavy, weighing over 11 kg, and I'm told it is on a brass frame.
The number at the bottom is 28668 and it has the makers sign of Burham - London. It is in need of some restoration. |

LONDON TRANSPORT BUS STOP FLAG
1950s - 1960s "boat-type" stop Complete with all runners
This is a fine example of the standard London bus stop of the 1950s and 1960s. This is an 'E9' version (meaning it can take 9 'e-plates - route numbers - on each side) and is a compulsory stop for buses. The 'boat' style stops were introduced in about 1951 and were standard until the mid-70s when a design change came into force as a result of the bullseye becoming the roundel. Despite that, many of these traditional bullseye stops remained on the streets until the current type swept away all the older ones in the 1990s.
This flag comes complete with its runners for the insertion of the e-plates and with its original 'BP' number (location reference) underneath - 30491. I'm unable to say where it would have been located but I suspect it would have originally been in the London Transport Country Area. A clue is that the flag has the small bolt insertions on the top which allowed the fitting of a letter or number plate at a busy terminus or bus station.
The flag measures 18" (46cm) across by 31" (79cm) high and is made of vitreous enamel on steel with alloy runners. It is in very good condition - one of the best I have seen for a long time - with the original shine, no fading, and nothing more than a few very small chips which have been touched in. |

A nice example of a Green Line Coach bus stop flag. One side is in reasonably good order, the other side has a mark which is clearly shown in the pictures. Both sides have some surface scratching in places. The black edges have been painted at some stage, presumably to tidy the appearance. This could be stripped very easily if desired. |

This auction is for a Red Arrow General Flag in excellent condition with just a couple of minor edge chips. All black General Red Arrow flags always were extremely rare and have hardly ever been seen for sale. Nearly all stops on the limited stop Red Arrow services were shared with normal bus routes, but there were just a few locations where the Red Arrow routes stopped on their own, and for these stops this all-black bus stop was designed.
It is many years since they have been used as they did not last long before conventional replaced the Red Arrow stops. This flag is a lovely example from a bygone era and the black background flags will have not have even been seen by most people. It has been in my collection for many years but space is forcing me to part with it. Don't miss this unique and very rare opportunity! |

OWN A PIECE OF LONDON TRANSPORT HISTORY!! Vintage original enamel Bus & Coach Compulsory Stop Flag This is an original LT enamel bus stop flag as seen for years and years on bus stop poles until they were replaced by newer versions with different signage - now highly collectable items.. This is a very rare now compulsory stop flag for both central (red bus) and Country (green bus) routes within Greater London.. These were phased out long ago now, and this one is in top class condition.. These stop flags were also seen right in the heart of London where many of the Green-Line routes shared roads with normal buses.. FANTASTIC CONDITION FOR ITS AGE.. |

For you transport collectors i will apologise if i get the description wrong but here goes. A metal bus stop red white and green has some rust holes and one side is cleaner than the other, i would think it could do with a good clean all over. Has the wording BUS & COACH STOP / COMPULSORY / REQUEST on the main sign. Has spaces for 12 e-plates. On the base of the sign it has a number 3639 screwed in place. |

It measures just over 18" x 15". |
