“A street map showing fifteen selected Bus Routes which take you to all the places of interest in central London – together with an index and grid” This map has the same dimensions as the pocket-size Underground diagram. The map, titled VISITOR’S BUS ROUTES, is a slightly smaller version of the one later used in the WELCOME maps, covers the area from Notting Hill to Aldgate and Islington to Battersea, and shows routes 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 11, 14, 22, 24, 25, 38, 73, 74, 77 and 109, each in their own colour and line-type. The index on the back lists 73 places of interest, and their location on the map. |

◀ One of the maps produced by London Transport specifically for the tourist market. It includes a Central Area map showing the Underground and selected bus services, and on the other side a potted history of the London bus plus details of many tourist locations and, of course, promotion of the (then) 4′- Sightseeing Tour. The folder contains a street map showing fifteen selected bus routes which take one to all the places of interest in central London, with the nearest Underground Station and an index and grid. It unfolds to reveal, on one side, a map of Visitor’s Central London with bus and Underground routes. The reverse contains a list of places to visit, a selection of the best sightseeing bus routes, a brief history of The London Bus and London’s Underground. The prices are pre-decimal, and London Underground Century Publications (1863-1963) are advertised. ▶ |

| This is a large fold-out map the same size as the ordinary bus map of that time. On one side is a large-scale coloured map of Central London showing places of interest with bus routes and underground stations. On the other side are brief descriptions of some of the famous places of interest to visitors to London, with a grid reference to find them on the map. In addition, there is a black-and-white central area Underground map, as well as line drawings of some of the places. There are adverts for London Transport publications, Rover tickets and the Round London Sightseeing Tour that includes a map of the route. | ||||
