The 1968 guide introduced the first stylistic change to the cover of the diagram in a decade. The border changed from a continuous ribbon with alternately angled bulls-eyes to a series of squares with horizontal symbols, and the title UNDERGROUND became uniform in height instead of having larger intial and final letters. Perhaps because of the large variety and consequently smaller print runs for each, maps from 1968 tend to trade for much higher prices than other of this era, and a set of one each of Nos. 1, 2 & 3 sold for £77 on ebay in May 2008.

No. 2 1968 also has the print code 168/169Z/250,000, but shows the Northern City curtailed at Drayton Park and the Victoria Line in operation from Walthamstow to Highbury, and under construction between Highbury and Victoria.

There were four variations of the 1968 No. 3 guide. It exists with or without print code 168/169Z/250,000, and blank or overprinted VICTORIA LINE STAGE 2 King’s Cross-Euston Warren Street OPENS DECEMBER 1 It depicts the Victoria Line in operation between Walthamstow Central and Warren Street, and under construction from Warren Street to Victoria.
