| This is the first of the post-war issues in pocket folder format, and refers to LONDON TRANSPORT RAILWAYS rather than UNDERGROUND. It has a detailed diagram of the network on the inner side, and a central area plan showing connections with Main Line termini on the reverse, which also has one panel forming the main folder title. | |

Although the official announcmement of the abandonment of the Bushey Heath extension came in October 1950, it is obvious that the decision had been made much earlier, as the print code on the January 1950 map is April 1949. This map was issued with a tri-lingual (French/English/German) WELCOME paper wrap-around:

| In September 1950 the Bakerloo extension was deferred indefinitely by London Transport (resulting in its removal from the Underground map), and the Alexandra Palace branch of the Northern line was also deleted, despite hundreds of thousands of pounds already spent on construction and electrification, and the project nearing completion. | ||

| The 1954 edition features a complete redrawing of the diagram. There are fewer diagonals, and the Circle line has become a rectangle, and in the east the District line no longer falls off the end of the world. | ||

| The CENTRAL AREA INTERCHANGE STATIONS enlargment on the back was replaced with an index of all stations on the Underground. This change is also noted on the diagram’s cover. | |
