This book (volume two of the three-volume set) tells the story of the original National company, started in 1909 as the National Steam Car Company. It later grew across the south of England and split into Eastern, Southern and Western National. The origins and early growth of the company from 1930 are well covered and supported with a wide range of excellent historical photographs, maps, diagrams and publicity material. Very detailed appendices cover vehicles, routes, acquired operators and much more. It is a thorough book packed full of expert research with much historical detail and a range of fine photographs. This volume takes the story from 1930 through to 1969, just prior to the creation of the NBC.
